Hanoi, (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

-Politburo member and State President Vo Van Thuong had a meeting with the Party’s civil affairs board and leaders of the Supreme People’s Court in Hanoi on March 27.
The number of cases handled by courts at all levels has increased about 6% annually while the quality of courts’ judging and settlement of cases has also recorded progress. The rate of the verdicts cancelled or amended due to subjective causes was low, under 1.5%, according to a report delivered at the meeting.Read full text

-The Government convened a thematic meeting on law building under the chair of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi on March 27.
The participants mulled over the National Assembly’s draft Resolution on piloting several mechanisms and policies to remove obstacles in transport infrastructure construction, several new policies in the management of entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam; the draft revised Law on Citizen Identification; the draft amended Law on Credit Institutions; and proposals to build a Law amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.Read full text

-The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO), in collaboration with Lao Cai province, held the International Friendship Exchange – Spring 2023 in the northern mountainous province on March 26-27.
The event attracted the participation of 150 delegates from foreign embassies, and international organisations, and foreign non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Vietnam.Read full text

-The cooperation between the central province of Thua Thien-Hue and Attapeu province of Laos has been strengthening and generating practical results in fields, Secretary of the Thua Thien - Hue provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu said on March 27.
At a working session with a Lao delegation led by Secretary of the Attapeu Party Committee and Governor of the province Let Xaynhaphon, Luu and his guest informed each other of their local socio-economic developments, administration and Party building work, and cooperation results over the past time.Read full text

-Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang has met with the three Swiss nationals who flew the flag of the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam on top of Notre Dame Cathedral Paris on January 18 - 19, 1969, to protest the war and advocate peace for the Vietnamese people.
At the gathering in Paris on March 25, Bernard Bachelard, Olivier Parriaux, and Noé Graff from Lausanne city of Switzerland recalled their 30-hour journey to plant the flag on January 18 - 19. The event took place over 50 years ago, but it was not until 2019 when the cathedral’s spire collapsed in a fire, that the truth about this event was revealed.Read full text

-The domestic price cap for air service will averagely increase by 3.75% from the current one from the second or third quarter of 2023, according to the Ministry of Transport.
Under a plan of the ministry, the cap on domestic airline tickets will be applied on four kinds of flights.Read full text

-The south central province of Ninh Thuan will hold a grape and wine festival from June 13-18 to highlight the local products and culture.
