Hanoi (VNA) –
Director of the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM) Nguyen Dinh Cung suggested ministries and ministerial-level agencies simplify business conditions and remove ones which are unclear, too vague, and unfeasible before the third quarter of 2019.

He further recommended announcing the abolished and simplified business conditions from 2018.

Localities are not allowed to create illegal business conditions and must strictly punish officials who violate new regulations.

According to the World Bank’s Doing Business 2019, Vietnam ranked 69th out of the 190 countries and territories listed, down one spot against the previous year.

Compared to other ASEAN countries, Vietnam was behind Singapore’s second position, Malaysia (15th), Thailand (27th), and Brunei (55th); while higher than Indonesia (73rd), the Philippines (124th), Cambodia (138th), Laos (154th), and Myanmar (171st).

Among the ten sectors that the report covered, Vietnam earned higher scores in seven indicators, including getting electricity (up by 9.25 points) and starting a business (up by 2.80 points). –VNA
