Hanoi (VNA)
– A ceremony was held in Hanoi on November 8 to mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in the Vietnamese capital city and the 25th anniversary of the normalisation of Vietnam-US economic relations.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur L Ross and other US government officials, along with CEOs of 17 leading US companies attended the event.

In his remarks, Ross said the Vietnam-US trade cooperation is of significance, and promoting the bilateral trade ties would bring huge benefits to US firms.

He emphasised major contracts between US enterprises and their Vietnamese partners in aviation, energy and health care, and expressed his firm belief that US businesses will have new cooperation opportunities with Vietnam in the future.

According to US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink, two-way trade revenue has exceeded 60 billion USD.

The presence of representatives of the US companies during the current trip to Vietnam would help advance the bilateral trade ties, he noted.

Vietnam is the final leg of a trip to three countries in the Indo-Pacific region by Ross and his entourage, which also took them to Thailand and Indonesia./.
