AMEM 28 marks ASEAN energy close coordination

The 28th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM 28) marks the close coordination of ASEAN energy in implementing targets to form an ASEAN economic community, said Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang.
The 28th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM 28) marks the closecoordination of ASEAN energy in implementing targets to form an ASEANeconomic community, said Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade VuHuy Hoang.

Minister Hoang made the statement as AMEM 28 opened in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong on July 22.

The results of AMEM 28 will make positive contributions to regionalcountries’ energy development and promote the integration of ASEANenergy, thus contributing to the ASEAN economic development andconnectivity, Hoang added.

Prime Minister Nguyen TanDung delivered a speech to open AMEM 28, which elected Vietnam asPresident and Brunei as Vice President.

TheASEAN Secretariat presented a report focusing on the development of theASEAN electricity network connecting plan, the role and issues of ASEANenergy groups’ interest, necessary activities to cope with climatechange and changes in the context of ASEAN economies.

The ministers also heard about a report on ASEAN energy cooperation in2009 and 2010 with outstanding achievements and new proposals toimplement an action plan on ASEAN energy in the 2010-2015 period thatfocuses on clean coal utilisation technology, effective energyproduction and preservation, renewable and civil nuclear energy andregional energy plans and policies./.

Vietnam, Laos sign cooperation agreement to enhance financial management capacity for 2026–2030

The agreement was one of four cooperation documents exchanged during the Lao PM’s ongoing official visit to Vietnam, reflecting the determination of the two Parties, States, as well as ministries, and sectors of the two countries to further consolidate, strengthen and deepen the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between Vietnam and Laos.

Vietnam, Thailand further bolster 50-year ties

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on August 6, 1976, Vietnam-Thailand ties have expanded steadily in both breadth and depth. The two countries enjoy strong political trust and close relations between their leaders and people.
