The Angolan Government and the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) in particular hope to deepen collaboration with Vietnam in the fields of mutual interests.

Angolan President Josse Eduardo dos Santos made the remark at a recent reception for Vietnamese Ambassador Do Ba Khoa who came to bid farewell at the end of his tenure in the African country.

The President proposed the MPLA and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) continue to promote cooperation for the sake of the two countries’ governments and peoples.

He suggested the two nations actively prepare for the 7th inter-governmental committee in November this year as well as implement activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

He hailed the achievements that Vietnam has gained in national reform, construction and defence, which have helped increase the position of Vietnam in the international arena.

Ambassador Do Ba Khoa congratulated Angola on its attainments in the cause of national reconstruction and reconciliation, pointing to the increasingly important status and significant contributions of Angola in regional and global peace and security matters.

He noted that the two countries have promoted their traditional solidarity, enhanced high-level exchanges, and supported each other at regional and international forums over the past three years.

The bilateral relations have also been expanded at local level, he said, citing Vietnam ’s central Da Nang city and Angola’s western Benguela province have signed the Letter of Intent on developing bilateral friendly and cooperative rapports.

Luanda Governor is set to visit Hanoi in the coming time to exchange the cooperation framework between the two capitals, Khoa added.

More Vietnamese businesses and investors show interest in the Angolan market, he said, adding that the two sides are pushing ahead with negotiations to conclude the agreement on investment encouragement and protection and other deals.

The Ambassador thanks Angolan authorities for supporting Vietnamese expatriates to integrate into the host society and participate in Angola’s economic diversification initiative.

He also bid farewells to MPLA Secretary General Dino Matrosse and leaders of some Angolan ministries.-VNA
