Through thousands of years of changes in fashion, ao dai, the Vietnamese traditional long dress, has retained its proud position. Carrying the cultural traits through ages, ao dai has become a cultural symbol showing the Vietnamese identity.

More than 500 women and girls in Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) joined a parade in Hanoi, showing off the beauty of the most elegant and graceful dress of Vietnamese women.
An Ao dai (traditional long dress) and cuisine festival opened in the ancient imperial city of Hue, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, on December 18.
Designer Minh Chau, who has been known for unique traditional Vietnamese longdress collections, presented his collection “Kim Lang” (Groom) for weddings at a catwalk show during the Vietnam International Fashion Week 2020.
Stories about heritages in the northern province of Quang Ninh were told through a show of 17 collections of Ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) at Quang Ninh 2020 Ao dai festival organised in Cam Pha city on December 26.
With the aim of further promoting Vietnam’s traditional outfit, the “ao dai”, among international friends and honouring its value while assisting in the compilation of a dossier on recognising the traditional Hue ao dai as a national intangible cultural heritage, Thua Thien-Hue province has been working hard to raise awareness about the outfit through a series of different events.
