APEC 2017: Vietnam makes positive contributions to APEC

The Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum continues to be one of the most important cooperative venues for Vietnam, as its membership includes 13 out of Vietnam’s 25 strategic and comprehensive partners.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forumcontinues to be one of the most important cooperative venues for Vietnam, asits membership includes 13 out of Vietnam’s 25 strategic and comprehensivepartners.

Therefore,the country has become an active member and has made positive contributions to theforum since joining it in 1998, with one of the highlights being its hosting ofthe APEC Year 2006, during which the 14th summit passed the HanoiAction Plan on implementing Bogor goals along with measures to improvecooperation effectiveness.

In2014, Vietnam successfully organised the sixth APEC Ministerial Meeting ondeveloping human resources in Hanoi.

Vietnamis also among those members who proposed and participated in many newinitiatives. The country took the lead in proposing and implementing over 100projects across many fields like trade, investment, economic-technicalcooperation, small- and medium-sized enterprises, emergencies response, health,food security and fighting terrorism.

Vietnamhas also taken up many important positions in cooperation mechanisms of APEC.

In2016, Vietnam participated in building orientations for APEC’s long-term cooperation,while fulfilling its role as Chair or Co-Chair and Deputy Chair of someCommittees and Working Groups.  

Thecountry chaired or co-chaired projects on developing support industry and sustainabletourism, responding to natural disasters, and connecting supply chains.

Vietnamonce again will host the APEC forum in 2017, which is a priority of thecountry’s external policy this year.-VNA

Dien thanked her and the Parliament of Tanzania for hosting IPU-153 and acknowledging her contributions during her tenure as IPU President. Vietnam, RoK promote friendship, mutual understanding

This is PM Hung’s first official trip to Laos and Cambodia, reaffirming the high importance and priority that the Party, State and Government of Vietnam attach to relations with the two neighbouring countries. PM Le Minh Hung’s Laos visit to help deepen bilateral relations

On July 18, 1977, they signed the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, providing an important political and legal foundation for strengthening bilateral ties and supporting each country’s cause of national construction and defence.
