Over 100 representatives from central and local archive agencies received training on skills in selecting and compiling dossier for potential candidates for the world documentary heritage title.

Over 100 representatives from central and local archive agencies, museums and libraries received training on skills in selecting and compiling dossier for potential candidates for the world documentary heritage title at a recent workshop in Ho Chi Minh City.

Lecturers at the event were UNESCO experts from Netherlands, the Republic of Korea and Thailand.

Participants were also guided in the compilation of dossiers for administrative documents kept at the Nam Ky (southern Vietnam) governor’s palace from 1858-1945; writings on architectural works in Hue imperial citadel from 1802-1945; and woodblocks for textbooks from Truong Luu in Ha Tinh province from 1758-1788.

Currently, Vietnam has received recognition from the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme for 82 stone steles honouring doctoral candidates in Hanoi’s Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam ( the Temple of Literature ) during the Le-Mac Dynasty (16 th -18 th century); Nguyen Dynasty’s royal administrative documents (1802-1945); wood-blocks of the Nguyen Dynasty; and the collection of wooden blocks carved with Buddhist sutras at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda in Bac Giang province .-VNA
