A “Food and Health” seminar was held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 10 tomark the launch of a series of activities to welcome the formation ofthe ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) late this year.

The event was co-organised by the Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-ASEAN FriendshipAssociations (HCM City – VAFA) and the Haru restaurant.

The seminar aims to tighten mutual international exchange throughcuisine in the context of regional integration and globalisation, saidPhan Thi Hong Xuan, HCM City – VAFA’s Chairman.

During the event, participants discussed the relationship between foodand nutrition, building brand names of Vietnam’s food and combiningVietnamese food with other regional cuisine.

Anumber of art performances, cultural exchanges, sport games and tradepromotions will also be held to mark the ASEAN’s 48th foundinganniversary (August 8) and the 20th anniversary of Vietnam joiningthe bloc and the founding of the HCM City - VAFA (July 28,1995).-VNA

The Deputy PM welcomed Pasqal, a French company specialising in neutral-atom quantum computing, for exploring cooperation with Vietnam. He also recognised Vietnamese technology group FPT’s pioneering investment in quantum technology and artificial intelligence research and training.

ASEAN+3 forecast to maintain 4.1% growth

Most economies in the region continue to have sound external positions and adequate foreign exchange reserves. The banking system remains well-capitalised, liquid and profitable, while corporate and household debt-to-GDP ratios have generally declined. Public debt-to-GDP ratios have also broadly stabilised.
