ASEAN films screened in New Zealand

A film festival was held in Wellington, New Zealand from October 31-November 1 to promote the land, people, culture and customs of ASEAN member nations in the country.

A film festival was held in Wellington, New Zealand from October 31-November 1 to promote the land, people, culture and customs of ASEAN member nations in the country.

Organised by the embassies of Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand in New Zealand, the event offered a chance to understand ASEAN member countries through film screenings and the introduction of tourism publications.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Nguyen Viet Dung, who is also Chairman of the ASEAN Committee in Wellington (AWC), highlighted the significance of the event as contributing to enhancing solidarity among communities from the group’s member countries in New Zealand.

As part of events hosted by the AWC in New Zealand in 2015 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the ASEAN-New Zealand Partnership, the festival attracted a crowd of local residents and visitors.

On the occasion, Ambassador Dung presented gifts to local high school students who entered a creative writing contest on the ASEAN-New Zealand ties launched by ASEAN member nation embassies in New Zealand in August.-VNA

Timor-Leste opens embassy in India
