The ASEAN Women’s Circle (AWC) organised an ASEAN traditional culinary festival at the ASEAN Secretariat headquarters in Jakarta on June 12.
The Festival brought out the bests of traditional dishes from the 10 ASEAN member states and those from the bloc’s partners, including Japan, the Republic of Korea, the India, New Zealand, and China.
At the event, AWC Chairwoman Ugi Pramono said the annual festival helps forge links and mutual understanding between ASEAN women in particular and the people in the region in general.
In 2015, AWC will work to organise more activities with the aim to promote women’s role in ASEAN development process and regional integration, contributing to the successful establishment of ASEAN community at the end of this year.
Also on the occasion, AWC held a charity fair to raise fund for street children in Jakarta.
The AWC, established in 1975, operates as a social organisation and aims to enhance friendship and solidarity, as well as boost cooperation in the region.-VNA
