Jakarta (VNA) – The High-Level Task Force for the ASEAN Community's Post-2025 Vision (HLTF-ACV) is drafting the ASEAN Post-2025 Vision towards ASEAN 2045, which will be one of the main topics of discussion at the 42nd ASEAN Summit, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release on April 28.
Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will discuss a number of issues of common interest to ASEAN, under the theme "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth" at the 42nd ASEAN Summit, slated to be held in Indonesia’s Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara province on May 9-11, according to the statement.
During the ASEAN leaders' meeting or interface with the HLTF-ACV on May 10, ASEAN leaders are expected to provide guidance so that the ASEAN vision currently being drafted will be visionary, inspiring, comprehensive, robust and inclusive, Indonesian Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah said.
He went on to say that following guidance from ASEAN leaders, the draft vision will be subject to in-principle endorsement by the ASEAN Coordinating Council (ACC) during their meeting in September. The document is expected to be endorsed in 2025.
At the summit, ASEAN leaders are also expected to endorse the ASEAN Leaders' Statement on developing the ASEAN Community Post-2025 Vision, thereby, accelerating the drafting process and ensuring that the document is truly visionary, ambitious, adaptive and strategic./.
