ASEAN Next 2018 focuses on science, innovation partnerships

Thailand's Ministry of Science and Technology has organised “ASEAN Next 2018” to encourage partnerships in the science, technology and innovations developed between ASEAN and its trade partners.
Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thailand's Ministry of Science and Technology has organised “ASEAN Next 2018” to encourage partnerships in the science, technology and innovations developed between ASEAN and its trade partners.

The second ASEAN Next event is being held under the theme “Rising STI Networking for Innovation ASEAN” and is aimed at forging scientific, technological and innovation partnerships at the ASEAN level and with the bloc’s trade partners. It is also based on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Permanent Secretary for Science and Technology, Dr. Soranit Silatham, explained that networks and creative innovations are the focal point of this year’s event and that expert speakers from all 10 ASEAN nations, as well as 16 speakers from South Korea, will be giving talks on 18 subjects, including water management, nuclear research, rail transport and sustainable science.

Over 320 people are expected to attend the talks as well as join in study tours to see water management in Huay Pla Lohd Community in Tak province and landslide management in Chiang Mai.

Results from the event will be presented to the Cabinet for consideration and will inform next year’s event, which will take place in November 2019. - VNA
