Hanoi (VNA) – A training workshop of the ASEAN Parties against Corruption (ASEAN-PAC) on control of assets and income of public officials in Southeast Asia took place virtually on September 22.
The event, co-organised by the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GIV) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), gathered representatives from the ASEAN-PAC, the UNODC and Vietnamese public agencies and localities.
Speaking at the workshop, GIV Deputy Inspector General Tran Ngoc Liem highlighted the importance of the matter, adding that there are many factors that affect, influence and determine the effectiveness of asset and income control.
Discussions at the event revolved around related legal frameworks and international standards; comparative analysis of income and wealth control systems in the world; good practices regarding specific issues; and the handling of assets and incomes with unexplainable legal origin.
Francesco Checchi from the UNODC said the discussion across diverse contents is effective and open.
Earlier, on the morning of September 22, the GIV hosted the 17th Secretariat Meeting of the ASEAN-PAC via videoconference./.
