Hanoi (VNA) – Russia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) intend to adopt an updated strategy on fighting terrorism next year, TASS news agency reported, citing Russian Permanent Representative to ASEAN Alexander Ivanov.
The ambassador is quoted by TASS as saying that Russia is working together with the ASEAN to update a work plan to counter transnational crime and combat terrorism. He added that they hope to adopt the plan next year.
Ivanov also said first round of consultations on security issues involving high-level experts from ASEAN nations and Russia took place this year.
According to him, the cooperation between the two sides has been progressing at quite a rapid pace. He said cooperation with the ten-member states is underway in many fields, from politics, security, economy, trade, and agriculture to humanitarian contacts./.
