ASEAN Schools Games flag raising ceremony held in Da Nang

Da Nang (VNA) - National flags of sports delegations to the 13th ASEAN Schools Games (ASG) were raised at the Tien Son Sports Complex in Da Nang city on June 1, marking their official presence at the largest regional sports gathering for school students.

The competition, which kicked off with a basketball event on May 31, will feature intense matches among athletes representing regional contenders in 107 events of six sports, namely swimming, athletics, badminton, basketball, Pencak Silat, and Vovinam.

Also in the morning, heads of delegations to the games gathered in the central city for their conference to listen to a report on preparations for ASG as well as information related to the games’ organisation, logistics and transportation from host Vietnam.

The 13th ASG is taking place from May 31 to June 9 in the central city of Da Nang under the theme “Connect to Shine Bright”. It saw the participation of about 1,300 athletes and coaches from 10 member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)./.
