Moscow (VNA) – A football tournament opened for the Vietnamese community in Russia, at Bratislava Park in Moscow on June 24.

The much anticipated event aims to mark the 20th anniversary of the Vietnamese association in Russia. It attracts the participation of 16 teams with nearly 550 players and coaches.

Speaking at the event, Tran Phu Thuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the association and head of the organising board, said the tournament creates a healthy playground for the community.

Minister Counselor Le Quang Anh said this is one of the most important community events in 2024, as it takes place right after the official visit to Vietnam by President Vladimir Putin.

After the opening ceremony, there were two matches betweeen FC Friends and FC Phuong Dong, and Moscow Youth FC and FC Hai Phong./.
