Senior officials from ten ASEAN member nations gathered for discussions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 2 in preparation for the bloc’s 48 th annual Foreign Minister Meeting (AMM 48) and related meetings.
The session reviewed the working programme, agenda contents and proposals to be considered.
The participating Vietnam delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.
The 48th AMM will officially convene on August 4 with the participation of bloc foreign ministers and the ASEAN Secretary General. The meeting’s plenary session will focus on issues regarding the establishment of the ASEAN Community in late 2015 and progress of the ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision. A retreat meeting will discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The 48th AMM will be followed by several related meetings including the 16th ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers Meeting (16th APT FMM) with China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, the 5th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers Meeting (5th EAS FMM) and the 22nd ASEAN Regional Forum (22nd ARF).-VNA
