Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung joined other ASEAN senior officials at a meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on November 19, in preparation for the 27th ASEAN Summit and related meetings, scheduled in the next two days in the country.

During the meeting, the officials reviewed preparations for the 27th ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN+1 Summit with seven partners of China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, India, the US, New Zealand and the United Nations, the ASEAN+3 Summit and the East Asia Summit.

They finished documents to be submitted to the summits for approvals, including the Declaration on the Establishment of the ASEAN Community 2015 and the Declaration on the ASEAN Community Vision 2025, and several documents on maritime cooperation, the global movement of moderates, extremism prevention, and combat against information technology and communication crime.

The delegates acknowledged that the master plan on the building of the Political-Security Community 2015 was absolutely completed.

They also acknowledged the outcomes of the 15th meeting of the ASEAN-China Joint Working Group on the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and the 10 th ASEAN-China Senior Officials’ Meeting on the DOC.

Timor-Leste’s request for an ASEAN membership, a Protocol on the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty, and the release of a publication on regional security prospects in 2015 were scrutinised at the event.

ASEAN’s dialogue partnership with China, the EU, Russia and the US was also discussed.

As scheduled, the 13th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council meeting, the 14th ASEAN Economic Community Council meeting and the 17th ASEAN Coordinating Council meeting will be organised on November 20 to check final preparations for the Summit.-VNA
