Vietnamese pay-TV operator HTVC Cable TV System has begun broadcasting Scripps Networks Interactive Asian Food Channel to its 700,000-plus subscribers.
The 24-hour regional food and lifestyle network will be carried exclusively on Television Media Service Company's platform.
"The launch in Vietnam builds on our ongoing strategy of regional expansion for AFC and marks the 13th territory where the channel is available," said Derek Chang, the managing director for Asia Pacific at Scripps Networks Interactive.
"We look forward to providing food lovers in Vietnam with an avenue to immerse themselves in cuisine from around the region and the world, and working closely with TMS to engage and grow our audiences in Vietnam."
Asian Food Channel programmes include E & O Search for AFC's Next Celebrity Chef, Back to the Street, Great Dinners of the World and 36 Ways to Live.
"Beside introducing world cuisine to Vietnam, we will share Vietnamese cuisine art with international friends," said Le Thi Phuong Thao, director of Thao Le Entertainment Company, a representative of AFC in Vietnam.
Less spicy and oily in the north, spicier and more colorful in the central region, and sweeter in the southern region, the Vietnamese food is diverse and reflects each region’s natural characteristics, production, customs and habits. But they all share the common features of Vietnamese food, which is distinctive and loved around the world.-VNA
