Hanoi (VNA) -
The Asian Women’s U19Volleyball Championship will kick off in northern Bac Ninh province on June 10.

Vietnam are scheduled to face Thailand on the opening day. The hostnext meet China on June 11 and Japan on June 12.
 
Coach Pham Minh Dung selected 14 playersfor the event including strikers Bui Thi Bich Phuong and Doan thi My Tien andlibero Dam Thi Thuy Linh.

Vietnam are in Group A with defendingchampion China, Japan and Thailand.

Group B consists of the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan andIndia.

Group C includes China’s two special administrative regions of Hong Kong andMacao, Australia and Iran; while Group D has Malaysia, New Zealand, Sri Lankaand Uzbekistan.

At the previous championship in 2016 inThailand, China finished first, followed by Japan, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Asian Women’s U19Volleyball Championship is a biennial volleyball competition in Asia andOceania contested by the under-19 women’s teams of the members of the AsianVolleyball Confederation.
