Jakarta (VNA) – At least six people were killed and seven others were missing as a boat capsized in waters off East Java province, western Indonesia, on July 19.

The boat with 21 aboard was overturned by huge waves when it was passing in the sea, according to Indonesia’s national disaster management agency.

Eight people were rescued. Rescuers are still searching for the missing.

Early this month, a ferry with over 100 people on board sank in waters off the coast of central Indonesia, leaving at least 29 dead and 41 others missing.

The accident happened two weeks after a vessel sank on Indonesia’s Lake Toba that left around 170 dead.
