Sydney (VNA) – The Government of Australia will implement the Indo-Pacific Justice and Security Programme to help enhance response to transnational crimes and extremism in the region, Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said on October 20.
The over 15 million AUD (11.78 million USD) programme will be carried out in four years, according to the minister.
Australian legal experts will be sent to the targeted nations to train, review draft laws and give advice to their local colleagues on measures to ensure legal processes are implemented the most effectively.
The programme will focus on fighting financial crimes, human trafficking extremism, and international criminals.
In the first year, it will be carried out in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and the Philippines.-VNA
