One of the two men arrested over the bombing at the Erawan shrine in Bangkok last month admitted to possessing explosives, Thai police said on September 7.

National police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri told the press that the suspect, Yusufu Mieraili who was arrested last week in Sa Kaeo province bordering Cambodia, confessed to the charge.

Police have not revealed his nationality though he was caught in possession of a Chinese passport with a birthplace listed as Xinjiang.

The other man, Adem Karadag, has already been charged with the crime after he was caught in a flat in a Bangkok suburb with bomb-making paraphernalia and dozens of fake Turkish passports.

Thai police said neither man was the culprit of the bombing on August 17 at the Erawan shrine, but the pair could be involved in the network blamed for the attack, which killed 20 people and injured more than 120 others.-VNA
