Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Preparation of a 7-kilometre stretch of roadwayfor the state procession as part of royal coronation ceremonies, is now 95percent complete, while the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has insistedall preparations will be fully completed by April 25.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) Deputy Permanent SecretarySompong Wiangkaew has presided over a meeting of the preparation committee onarea management in Bangkok, revealing that the preparation of a 7-kilometresection of roadway where the state procession will be taking place is now 95percent complete.
Many other related works are now fully completed in advance of the ceremonies,including traffic surface renovation, pavement markings, CCTV camerainstallations, and sewage management systems.
Trees and bushes along Rajadamnern Avenue have been trimmed to prevent theirbranches from growing over the road, while more lighting fixtures will beinstalled to provide appropriate illumination at night. The Governor of Bangkokis set to check the street illumination himself on April 19, before installingballoon lights to provide additional lighting in some areas.
Decoration of the area with trees and flowers is scheduled to be complete by25th April. These works need to be done after the Songkran holidays and not toofar ahead of the ceremonies due to the heat which can damage the flowers.Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has beenproviding care to some 200-300 homeless people in the area and has relocated themfrom the streets. The BMA Permanent Secretary has insisted that agencies ensureall preparation works are complete by April 25. – NNT/VNA
