Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Preparation of a 7-kilometre stretch of roadway for the state procession as part of royal coronation ceremonies, is now 95 percent complete, while the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has insisted all preparations will be fully completed by April 25.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) Deputy Permanent Secretary Sompong Wiangkaew has presided over a meeting of the preparation committee on area management in Bangkok, revealing that the preparation of a 7-kilometre section of roadway where the state procession will be taking place is now 95 percent complete.
Many other related works are now fully completed in advance of the ceremonies, including traffic surface renovation, pavement markings, CCTV camera installations, and sewage management systems.
Trees and bushes along Rajadamnern Avenue have been trimmed to prevent their branches from growing over the road, while more lighting fixtures will be installed to provide appropriate illumination at night. The Governor of Bangkok is set to check the street illumination himself on April 19, before installing balloon lights to provide additional lighting in some areas.
Decoration of the area with trees and flowers is scheduled to be complete by 25th April. These works need to be done after the Songkran holidays and not too far ahead of the ceremonies due to the heat which can damage the flowers. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has been providing care to some 200-300 homeless people in the area and has relocated them from the streets. The BMA Permanent Secretary has insisted that agencies ensure all preparation works are complete by April 25. – NNT/VNA
