Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam is a special partner of Belarus as it is the first country signing a free trade agreement with the Eurasia Economic Union, said Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Dapkyunas.
Meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi on December 4, he expressed his wish that the agreement will be implemented effectively.
Andrei Dapkyunas, who is in Vietnam to attend the 16th Vietnam International Trade Fair (Vietnam Expo 2018) as a guest of honour, affirmed his government will create conditions for the two countries to strengthen cooperation in order to boost bilateral economic-trade ties on par with political relations.
Belarus will continue to support and closely coordinate with Vietnam at international forums, he noted.
For his part, Son asserted that Vietnam treasures its ties with Belarus and thanked the European country for supporting Vietnam in the national construction and development.
He stressed that the two countries’ foreign ministries should continue playing a leading role in fostering bilateral cooperation in all fields.
At the meeting, both sides exchanged measures to promote economic-trade collaboration between Vietnam and Belarus.
Deputy FM Son applauded Belarusian businesses for paying attention to the Vietnamese market, which is reflected through the participation of many leading firms from Belarus in the Vietnam Expo 2018, saying this is a positive signal and a basis for the two countries to achieve their goal of raising two-way trade to 500 million USD.-VNA
