Bhutani PM’s Special Envoy visits Vietnam

The Special Envoy to the Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Bhutan, Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji paid an official visit to Vietnam from Feb. 28-29.
The Special Envoy to the Prime Minister of the Royal Government ofBhutan, Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji paid an official visit to Vietnam fromFeb. 28-29.

During his visit, Lyonpo Kinzang Dorjipaid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and met withPrime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh andDeputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh.

At areception for Dorji, Prime Minister Dung thanked him for visitingVietnam , saying it is the most significant step forward in relationssince the two countries established diplomatic ties on Jan 19 this year.

Dung said he believes that the bond of friendshipand bilateral cooperation between the two countries will become strongerin the future.

During the meeting, ForeignMinister Minh said that Vietnam always attaches a great deal ofimportance to developing ties with South Asian countries, includingBhutan .

He also recommended that both countriescooperate closer at every level, promote economic, cultural and tourismas well as supporting each other at regional and international forums.

The bhutani official replied that he was impressedwith the achievements Vietnam had recorded during its revolutionarystruggles in the past as well as its programme of national constructionand development at present and agreed that Vietnam and Bhutan shouldfoster closer ties in the near future.-VNA
