The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) on May 6 donated 500 floating school bags and 40 scholarships to primary pupils in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.
The gifts were handed over to the provincial Study Encouragement Society to distribute to pupils in flood-prone districts in the locality, which are always hard hit by floods from June to November every year.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Chairman of the society Dang Hoai Dung thanked the bank for the donation, saying that the presents will help ensure safety for local pupils in this year’s flood season.
Last year, the BIDV donated nearly 500 billion VND (23.5 million USD) to national target programmes, focusing on the healthcare, education, the upgrade of temporary houses, and emergency aid relief to compatriots affected by natural disasters.-VNA
