The company will be listedon the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange in the second quarter of nextyear, said its general director Nguyen Duc Tai, adding that the plan hasbeen approved and will go ahead if "there is no sudden change".

He told the local press on December 12 that thegioididong.com thisyear had reached an after-tax profit of 250 billion VND (12 million),nearly double that of last year.

Revenueyear-on-year had increased 25 percent to reach more than 7.8 trillionVND (371 million USD) in 2013, he said at a press conference held in HoChi Minh City to review business activities of the past year and planfor 2014.

About 2.5 million mobile phones, 85,000 laptops and 76,000 tablets were sold in 2013, he added.

Such a result was reached in difficult economic times thanks to thecompany's strategy of viewing the customer as the core of the businessas well as an emphasis on improving its selling culture, the officialsaid.

In addition, free services and preferentialselling policies were applied this year, such as the product-returnprogramme in which customers can return mobile phones or accessories ifthey do not like them.

With such programmes, thecompany lost money but was willing to accept it as "we are so happy whencustomers come to our shops," he said.

All of thecompany's stores have been improved to allow a better customerexperience. Moreover, the website was also updated and has averagedabout 10 million hits per month.

For 2014, thecompany targets revenue of 10.5 trillion VND (500 million USD), andprofits of 350 billion VND (16 million USD). Another goal is to attract150 million online customers and 50 million offline clients.

"Next year, we will continue to expand our chain. In particular,thegioididong.com will be available in rural areas," Tai said.

The company was established in 2004 with the first store in Ho ChiMinh City. It has more than 200 supermarkets in all the 63 provinces andcities nationwide.-VNA
