Binh Dinh’s wood exports surge 21 percent despite pandemic

The central province of Binh Dinh posted a 21 percent year-on-year increase in wood exports to 373 million USD during January-August despite disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Binh Dinh (VNA) – The central province of Binh Dinh posted a 21percent year-on-year increase in wood exports to 373 million USD duringJanuary-August despite disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to chairman of the province’s forest product export association LeMinh Thien, the export value accounted for 72.6 percent of the yearly plan.

As the province’s woodprocessing sector is striving for a 7 percent growth in export this year, localfirms have sharpened their focus on taking advantage of the new-generationtrade pacts, including the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and theComprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP),Thien said.

Currently, wood processing businesses are re-arranging their production plan asthey have received large orders.

The provincial Department of Industry and Trade have supported wood companiesto restructure their production chains, as well as promote sustainable forestprotection, ensuring that Binh Dinh maintains its position as the largest woodprocessing hub in the central region.

Binh Dinh is currently home to some 200 wood and forestry product processingbusinesses, which generate jobs for around 20,000 workers. Local wood productshave been present in over 80 countries and territories worldwide.

Against a backdrop of persistent uncertainty in global commerce, the Government is implementing a broad range of measures to strengthen export growth during the remainder of the year. Under Decree No. 263/2026/ND-CP, qualified projects are given priority to participate in State support programmes as well as funds and policies on research and development, technological innovation, technology transfer, human resource training, investment promotion and trade promotion.
