Binh Duong lures 715 million USD in FDI

Binh Duong province has attracted 715 million USD in FDI so far this year.
The southern province of Binh Duong has attracted 715 million USD in foreign direct investment so far this year, moving it within touching distance of its 1 billion USD yearly target.

Of the total, 189 million USD was poured into 20 new projects, while 525 million USD was invested in 19 ongoing projects, according to Mai Hung Duong, Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment.

Notably, the Nexfil company from the Republic of Korea invested 30 million USD into its new heat-insulating firm in the province, while the Thai paper manufacturer Kraft Vina injected additional 150 million USD to expand its business.

As part of efforts to lure more investors, Binh Duong has developed an infrastructure system in 26 out of total 28 industrial parks, focused more on the quality of human resources and enhanced its service quality by simplifying administrative procedures and promoting transparency, Duong said.

To get itself ready for the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is expected to be signed later this year, Binh Duong has also started planning the construction of a 300 hectares support industry park to serve garment and textiles investors, he added.

Meanwhile, a project to build and develop a new city in Binh Duong will be launched on February 20, he said, adding that investment licences for 23 projects valued at nearly 690 million USD will be granted on the occasion.-VNA
