Binh Thuan (VNA) – The People’s Court of Tuy Phong district in the central province of Binh Thuan on March 7 handed prison terms to 15 people for disturbing public order in Hoa Minh commune and Phan Ri Cua town on June 10 last year.
All of the 15 were prosecuted by the district’s People’s Procuracy on the charge of “disturbing public order” under Clause 2, Article 318, the 2015 Penal Code (revised).
According to the indictment, from 8:00-23:00 of June 10, 2018, many people gathered on National Highway 1A and Nam bridge in Hoa Minh commune. The defendants incited others to disturb public order and damage many motorcycles and automobiles, and blocked vehicles running through the highway and the bridge, thus causing serious traffic jams in nearly 15 hours.
They also threw bricks, stones and tree branches at police officers, injuring some of them.
The jury gave prison terms ranging from 2 to 3.5 years to the defendants.
Earlier, on July 23 last year, the same court handed prison terms ranging from 2 to 3.5 years to another 10 men on the same charge in the same case.-VNA
