Binh Thuan (VNA) - The construction of south central Binh Thuan provinceprovince’s first waste treatment plant has begun.

It will be able to treat 400 tonnes of waste a day once it starts in June 2017.

Set on 10 hectaresin Phan Thiet city’s Tien Thanh commune, the unit is being built at a cost of495 billion VND (22 million USD), said Le Quang Huy, general director of NhatHoang Ltd. Co.

The plant inthe south central province will be equipped with incineration technology fromRussia and an automatic controlling system from Japan.

According tothe Phan Thiet Urban Works Company, around 400 tonnes of waste is generatedevery day in the city, and currently the only way to handle it is to bury it atthe 26-hectare Binh Tu dumping site. However, the dump is already overfilled,so a waste treatment plant in the region is essential.
