The central coastal province of Binh Thuan is striving to become a national centre for beach sports and tourism, with Mui Ne beach hoped to become a national tourist site and PhanThiet city a tourism urban area.

Boasting a long coastline stretching for some 190 kilometres, Binh Thuan is home to pristine beaches, dazzling white sand dunes and pure air. The province’s beaches, such as Mui Ne, are favoured by the International Windsurfing Association as top venues for beach sports like windsurfing, parasailing, and sailing, among others.

Besides favourable conditions and landscapes, administrative reforms and diversified tourism products have also drawn visitors to the resort locality.

Parasailing and windsurfing clubs and sailing shops are now common at resorts in Mui Ne or Ham Tien.

Tourism is hoped to become BinhThuan’s spearhead sector. The province has mobilised resources to develop tourism in a professional and high-quality manner with diversified products.

To realise the goal, the locality issued a resolution on tourism development towards 2020. Accordingly, Binh Thuan aims to become a national centre for beach sports and tourism, with its Mui Ne being a national tourist site and PhanThiet city being named as a tourism urban area.

BinhThuan is striving to attract seven million tourists by 2020, including 850,000 foreigners. Average increase of foreign tourists is expected to reach 14% per year, contributing 10% to the province’s gross regional domestic product.-VNA
