State President Nguyen Minh Triet has urged the southern province of Binh Thuan to tap its potential, making breakthroughs in socio-economic development.
President Triet paid a working visit to Binh Thuan on July 8 and 9, focusing on the provincial socio-economic development in the first six months of the year and the implementation of the Politburo Resolution 49 on judicial reform and the Instruction 37 on Party congress at all levels.
Meeting with the province’s leaders on July 9, President Triet said that Binh Thuan has great potential in the fields of agriculture, industry, services and tourism. Of those fields, tourism has made the greatest progress, attracting a huge volume of visitors. He told the province to continue tapping its potential to attract more investment and develop infrastructural facilities.
He praised achievements the province has made in Party building and strengthening its administration, as well as poverty reduction and socio-economic development.
The State President asked Binh Thuan to continue focusing on poverty reduction, especially for ethnic minority people.
He spoke highly of the province’s implementation of the resolutions on judicial reform and Party building, urging the locality to develop those results, along with paying more attention to personnel training and the Party work.
The provincial Party Committee’s Secretary Huynh Van Ti briefed the State leader on Binh Thuan’s socio-economic development in the first six months of the year, which saw promising signs despite many difficulties.
During the period, the province saw a GDP growth of 10.1 percent. Its cultivation acreage increased 23.7 percent while industrial production value saw a year-on-year rise of 1.7 percent.
In the mentioned period, the province attracted over 1,260 visitors, a year-on-year increase of 14.8 percent and earned 92 million USD from exports, up 13 percent.
Earlier on July 8, President Triet visited the families of war invalids and martyrs and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers in the province on the occasion of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27) and called at some enterprises in the locality./.
