Eight of the 30 leading shares tracked by the VN30 retreated. Most blue chips closed in the green, especially property developer Dic Corp (DIG), which hit its ceiling price of 4,200 VND.
The VN30 edged up 0.48 percent to 462.16 points.
Meanwhile, on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, share prices tumbled with the HNX-Index shedding 0.17 percent and left standing at 53.79 points.
Market value and volume fetched 229 billionVND and 37.2 million shares, respectively, rising 50.6 percent over the previous session.
The HNX30, composed of 30 top shares on the northern bourse, dropped 0.41 percent to 99.34 points.
Property developer Sacomreal (SCR) was the most active stock, posting a combined trading volume of 17 million shares – accounting for nearly half of the northern bourse's trades. It concluded the day down 1.8 percent.
The acting director of VietCapital Securities Co, Vu Thanh Tu, predicted the market would rebound in the coming session. "Investors should not sell off shares at the moment," he said, advocating a close watch on demand at indices' support levels to define rational prices.-VNA
