The Laos’ capital city of Vientiane on October 20 organised a boat race, starting the country’s festival season.

About 40 men’s and women’s teams took part in the event, whichreceived fervent response from tens of thousands of local spectators,and domestic and foreign tourists lining the river banks.

Other festivities such as helicopters’ performances and floral floats were included.

The event also marks the ending of three months of practicing austerity of Laos’ Buddhist followers.-VNA
