Ca Mau proposes upgrade of local airport

Ca Mau (VNA) – The People’s Committeeof the southernmost province of Ca Mau has submitted a document to relevantagencies proposing an upgrade of Ca Mau airport during 2021-2025.

According to the provincial People’s Committee, the airport, which is locatedat the centre of the Ca Mau peninsula, plays a crucial role in promotingsocio-economic and tourism development and ensuring security-defence not only inthe province but also the Mekong Delta region and the country as well.  

The province noted that the regional transportinfrastructure facilities connected with Ca Mau have been upgraded, but theyhave not met the locality’s needs in socio-economic development and tappinglocal advantages and potential.

In 2019 alone, Ca Mau welcomed nearly 2 milliontourists, but there was only one return flight each day using ATR 72-500aircraft connecting the province and Ho Chi Minh City. 

Ca Mau Airport is currently capable of receiving small aircraft such as:ATR-72, AN-2, MIA-17, KINGAIR B200 and other aircraft with equivalent payload.

Under Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s Decision 236/QD-TTg approving adjustmentsto air transportation development planning to 2020, with a vision to 2030, CaMau Airport was designated to be a 3C airport by 2020, capable of receiving300,000 passengers a year, and a 2-level military facility. By 2030, it will become a 4-C airport with a capacity of 1 million passengers./.

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.

Shift to data-driven administrative procedures needs acceleration

Under a draft decree replacing Decree 63, authorities will have to proactively pull information from databases and records for informational or technical procedures.
