Cabinet members told to soon perform development tasks for 2017

Hanoi (VNA) – All ministers have been requested to expeditiously begincarrying out socio-economic development tasks for 2017 which were set up at therecent second session of the 14th National Assembly (NA).

PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the requirement while chairing the Government’smonthly meeting on November 28.

He saidthe resolution on socio-economic development plan for next year is among the NA’sresolutions that the Cabinet must implement as soon as possible in order toavoid a slowdown in production and business activities in Q1 like it was formany years.

Ministriesmust soon devise effective measures for dealing with some emerging socio-economicissues so that these problems won’t affect the execution of the developmentplan in the whole 2016 and in Q1 next year.

Regardingthe recent VND/USD exchange rate fluctuation, PM Phuc said though it is notworrying, a close watch must be kept so as to timely deal with sudden changes.He asked ministries to thoroughly handle bad and public debt, poor-performingbanks, and loss-making projects.

They alsohave to make precise forecast and assessment of international situation thatimpacts the country’s development, he added.

He alsoordered ministers to hold to the promises they made while fielding NA deputies’questions at the parliament’s second session.

As thereare only two months left before the Lunar New Year, the Cabinet members shoulddiscuss preparations for Vietnam’s biggest festival for people nationwide,particularly those in remote and disaster-hit areas, the PM noted.

At themeeting, the Government members mulled over a draft law on measurement and map,a draft plan on special economic zones, and a draft resolution on theimplementation of some benefits for professional soldiers, and defence workersand public servants.

They alsolistened to a report on the signing of a trade promotion and facilitation inthe Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area.-VNA

Hanoi, Vientiane promote comprehensive cooperation in new phase
