Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced on April 19 that all COVID-19 preventive measures, including mask wearing and rapid tests at various establishments, are now officially lifted following no new cases of transmission in recent days.

He noted in a special audio address to the nation that prior to this announcement, attendees at official meetings or those at hospitals were required to take rapid tests.

The PM stressed that this is not a ban on testing and individuals still can take a rapid test if they want.

However, he encouraged people to maintain good hygiene practices such as washing hands regularly with soap or sanitisers.

The leader also requested the Ministry of Health to closely monitor the situation and cooperate with the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Cambodia.

According to the health ministry, after the traditional New Year holidays, Cambodia recorded no new COVID-19 cases on April 17-19./.
