The visits are expected to help meet the ambitious development goals of each country in the new context, serve the interests of the three peoples, and make a positive contribution to peace, stability, prosperity and development in the region and the world, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung.
The state visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam is believed not only to contribute to the solid political foundation for Vietnam – Cambodia relations, but also to create new impetus for comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and two countries, as well as among the Parties and countries of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.
At the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, His Excellency To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, paid a State Visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on 6 February 2026.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the state visit by General Secretary Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam has made an important contribution to the enhancement of the friendship, good neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability in all areas between the two countries.
Defence and security cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia has become increasingly substantive, while economic, trade and investment partnership recorded strong growth, with bilateral trade reaching 11.33 billion USD in 2025, up 11.7% from 2024.
General Secretary To Lam stressed that his state visit to Laos and Cambodia is of special significance, being the first overseas trip by a leader of the Vietnamese Party and State immediately after the 14th National Party Congress, clearly demonstrating the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party and State to treasure and prioritise Laos and Cambodia.
With support from the Government and people of Vietnam, the establishment will be upgraded and added with new facilities to improve infrastructure, modernise the learning environment, and increase student admission capacity.
The three PMs agreed to continue adopting policies and measures to facilitate trade, investment and cooperation on a complementary and win-win basis, shifting from expansion in scale to improvement in quality and efficiency.
As neighbouring countries with similar historical backgrounds and national development conditions, as well as many shared concerns, the high-level meeting serves as a mechanism and forum for the three sides to further exchange views and opinions, thereby seeking strategic measures for opening up development opportunities and space for each country within the trilateral framework.
