The repatriation of cultural artifacts reflects Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to reclaim and preserve its cultural legacy for future generations, following similar returns in 2021 and 2023.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that by dispatching a delegation to Cambodia shortly after the Party General Secretary's visit, Vietnam demonstrates its leaders' strong political determination as well as proactive, prompt and responsible efforts to effectively implement the high-level agreements and common perceptions through concrete programmes and clear roadmaps.

In a rare interview granted to the international media during his visit to Brussels, Belgium, PM Hun Manet acknowledged that online scam operations in Cambodia not only damage the nation’s reputation but also undermine its honest economy.

Cambodia has five UNESCO-listed world heritage sites, namely the Angkor Archaeological Park, the Temple of Preah Vihear, the Temple Zone of Sambor Prei Kuk, the Koh Ker archaeological site, and the Cambodian Memorial Sites.

Tourism operators from seven provinces along the Thailand–Cambodia border have met with the Thai House of Representatives’ Committee on Tourism to seek solutions to restore market confidence, as tourism activity in the area remains sluggish despite relatively stable conditions along the border.

A local official expressed his hope that the relationship of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability” between Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as between the two provinces, will continue to develop fruitfully.

The Party and the State have always paid great attention to and provided substantial support for the Vietnamese-origin community in Cambodia, with the aim of helping them stabilise their lives, gradually integrate into the host society and contribute to the host country while serving as bridges to further strengthen the friendship between the two countries' people.

On February 9, Viettel Cambodia (Metfone), in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and the Khmer–Vietnamese Association in Cambodia (KVA), organised a Tet celebration programme and presented more than 1,000 Tet gift packages to disadvantaged Vietnamese-origin families across the country.

AKP expressed confidence that Party General Secretary To Lam state visit would open a new phase in Vietnam – Cambodia relations, marked by higher political trust and deeper, more extensive cooperation, creating intertwined strategic interests across multiple field.

Commenting on the visit by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam, Chheang said the visit underscored the importance Vietnam attaches to relations with Cambodia. As neighbouring countries, Vietnam has consistently prioritised ties with Cambodia and Laos, which share historic bonds and a tradition of solidarity and good neighbourliness.

According to Dr. Neak Chandarith, the outcomes of the 14th Party Congress signal that in a new era of development for Vietnam and the region, the two countries need to further strengthen their traditional friendship and close solidarity under the motto “solidarity, democracy, discipline, progress and development.” The visit, he stressed, reflects a high degree of political trust.

The visits are expected to help meet the ambitious development goals of each country in the new context, serve the interests of the three peoples, and make a positive contribution to peace, stability, prosperity and development in the region and the world, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung.

The state visit to Cambodia by General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam is believed not only to contribute to the solid political foundation for Vietnam – Cambodia relations, but also to create new impetus for comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and two countries, as well as among the Parties and countries of Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.

At the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, His Excellency To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, paid a State Visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on 6 February 2026.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that the state visit by General Secretary Lam and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnam has made an important contribution to the enhancement of the friendship, good neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability in all areas between the two countries.

Defence and security cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia has become increasingly substantive, while economic, trade and investment partnership recorded strong growth, with bilateral trade reaching 11.33 billion USD in 2025, up 11.7% from 2024.

General Secretary To Lam stressed that his state visit to Laos and Cambodia is of special significance, being the first overseas trip by a leader of the Vietnamese Party and State immediately after the 14th National Party Congress, clearly demonstrating the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party and State to treasure and prioritise Laos and Cambodia.

With support from the Government and people of Vietnam, the establishment will be upgraded and added with new facilities to improve infrastructure, modernise the learning environment, and increase student admission capacity.

The three PMs agreed to continue adopting policies and measures to facilitate trade, investment and cooperation on a complementary and win-win basis, shifting from expansion in scale to improvement in quality and efficiency.

As neighbouring countries with similar historical backgrounds and national development conditions, as well as many shared concerns, the high-level meeting serves as a mechanism and forum for the three sides to further exchange views and opinions, thereby seeking strategic measures for opening up development opportunities and space for each country within the trilateral framework.
