Cambodia promotes investment into Preah Sihanouk

An investment summit has been held in Preah Sihanouk to promote the potential of the coastal province in southwestern Cambodia to investors.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - An investment summit has been held in Preah Sihanouk to promote the potential of the coastal province in southwestern Cambodia to investors.

In his opening remarks, Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth highlighted the economic development potential of the province which is driven by strategic investments in infrastructure, trade, tourism, special economic zones and industry.

He held that the two-day summit, ending on December 18, provided an essential platform for open dialogue and knowledge exchange, showcasing the province’s unique advantages and investment opportunities.

According to Sineth, after nearly a year of implementing the “Special programe to promote investment in Preah Sihanouk province 2024” of the Government of Cambodia, the working group on the matter has received 242 registration dossiers for investment incentive projects. Of which, 212 projects have been approved for investment with a total registered capital of up to 6.03 billion USD.

Hean Sahib, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance who is chairman of the Preah Sihanouk Province Investment Promotion Working Group, said that the forum reflected the government’s commitment to promoting growth and innovation in Preah Sihanouk province.

He went on to say that it is an opportunity to explore the great potential of the coastal province in southwestern Cambodia, with the vision of turning this area into a prosperous investment and development centre within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)./.
