Phnom Penh (VNA) –Sam Rainsy, leader of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) are facing two arrest warrants and a subpoena of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for different charges.

The Bayon Cambodia Television on January 5 quoted an official of the court as saying that in late December 2015, the court issued an arrest warrant for Sam Rainsy for further investigation on the faked Cambodia- Vietnam border treaty case, causing serious social disorders.

On November 13, 2015, the court released another arrest warrant for the opposition leader for slandering Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Nam Hong in 2008.

Most recently, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court summoned Sam Rainsy to appear before the court on January 4 to be questioned on a case of defamation against National Assembly President Heng Samrin via Facebook.

Sam Rainsy did not meet the court’s subpoena and the court also rejected his request for answering questions through the Internet.
