Hanoi (VNA) - Cambodia recorded 4.81 millioninternational tourists in the first nine months of 2019, up 10 percent year-on-year,Tourism Minister Thong Khon said on November 4.
About 70.5 percent of the visitors reached Cambodia by air,27.4 percent by land and 2.1 percent by waterways, he said, adding that China,Vietnam and Laos were the largest sources of foreign arrivals to the country.
Tourism is one of the four sectors supporting the country'seconomy, contributing 12.7 percent to GDP last year. In 2018, Cambodia received6.2 million foreign tourists including 2 million Chinese visitors, earninggross revenue of 4.35 billion USD.
The Southeast Asian nation is famous for three worldheritage sites: the Angkor archeological park, the Preah Vihear temple, and theSambor Prei Kuk archeological site.
It also has a pristine coastline stretching 450km in thesouthwestern provinces of Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot and Kep.
Cambodia aims to welcome 6.7 million foreign visitors thisyear, and 7 million in 2020./.
