Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodian and US armies on March 14 kicked off a joint military exercise dubbed "Angkor Sentinel 2016," which aims to strengthen bilateral military ties and cooperation.
A statement from the US Embassy in Phnom Penh, the two-week exercise is being held at the Training Centre for Multinational Peacekeeping Forces in Phnom Sroch district of Kampong Speu province, about 70 km west of Phnom Penh.
The exercise, the seventh of its kind, is designed to enhance the two countries' humanitarian assistance and disaster response, the statement said.
It includes training and exchanges covering humanitarian assistance, disaster response, first aid, engineering, explosive ordnance disposal, transporting people and supplies, said Julie Chung, Chargé d' Affaires of the US Embassy in Cambodia.-VNA
