Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An on November 27 received Director General of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Nguyen Duc Loi, who is on a working visit to the country at the invitation of Director General of the Cambodian news agency AKP Sok Mom Nimul.
At the meeting, the Cambodian leader praised the two countries’ traditional friendship and solidarity, especially Vietnam ’s support for Cambodia to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime and maintain peace, stability and development.
She lauded VNA’s provision of overall and positive news on Cambodia ’s politics, economics and culture to Vietnamese and international readers and viewers.
The Deputy PM also spoke highly of the partnership between the two national news agencies, especially in personnel training and information exchange, adding that with her role she will help strengthen their ties.
Director General Loi affirmed that AKP is always an important and trusted partner of the VNA. He expressed his belief that thanks to the work of the Deputy PM and other Cambodian officials, the two sides’ relationship will continue developing positively.
The same day, the VNA Director General held talks with his Cambodian counterpart Sok Mom Nimul in which they spoke highly of information exchange, including news stories and images, especially during the 2012 Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Year.
The two sides also discussed measures to further professional links so as to prepare for the establishment of the ASEAN Community in 2015.
They signed a memorandum of understanding of the talks, in which they vowed to offer mutual assistance in human resources training and technical infrastructure.
The VNA delegation will stay in Cambodia until December 1. They are scheduled to meet with Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith and the Governor of Siem Reap.-VNA
