Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Union Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) has organized a walk to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Solidarity Front for Development of the Cambodian Motherland (December 2, 1978 – December 2, 2018).

The 40km walk, starting from Phnom Penh on December 29 to Snuol district of Kratie province where the front was set up, draws the participation of about 700 youths, led by UYFC head Hun Many.

Speaking before the start, the official said the goal of the walk is to help the participants get an insight of the sacrifices by Cambodian revolutionary fighters in the struggle for national liberation from the Khmer Rouge regime. It also serves as a chance for Cambodian youngsters to understand a history chapter full of bitterness and glory when a group of young Cambodians gathered in to the front to liberate Cambodia, Hun Many added.

On behalf of the Cambodian youths, he also said they will follow the footstep of their seniors on the revolutionary path.

After the conclusion of the walk on November 30, the front is scheduled to hold a ceremony to officially mark its 40th anniversary in Snoul district of Kratie province on December 2.-VNA
