An event to raise public awareness on malaria in Cambodia. (Photo: khmertimeskh.com) Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodia reported 1,384 malaria cases in 2023, down about 66% from the previous year.
It marked significant progress in the fight against the disease, said Huy Rekol, Director of Cambodia’s National Centre for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control.
There were no fatalities reported among the cases, he said, adding that Cambodia has achieved a major milestone in eliminating malaria deaths since 2018, three years earlier than planned.
According to him, malaria diagnostic tests and treatments have been highly effective in Cambodia./.
