Can Tho city to host biennial book fair

The 2017 Can Tho Book Fair will take place at the city’s Luu Huu Phuoc Park from March 25 to 31.

Can Tho (VNA) - The2017 Can Tho Book Fair will take place at the city’s Luu Huu Phuoc Park fromMarch 25 to 31.

The second biennial fair will bedivided into six areas and have 350 booths set up by 100 publishers.

The HCM City Book DistributionCorporation (Fahasa)’s 20 booths will feature 10,000 books besides thousands ofstationery items, toys and souvenirs.

Since readers’ needs are slightlydifferent in Can Tho compared to HCM City or Hanoi, a number of agriculture-and forestry-related titles will be on display.

Besides domestic publishers,Oxford, Cengage, Cambridge, Macmillan, Efuture, Pearson, and other internationaldistributors will also take part with children’s and language books.

There will be exhibitions on theformation and development of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh’s contributions andstories and images of Can Tho among others.

Other highlights will includebook signing sessions and seminars featuring popular authors and music shows.

Visitors will enjoy 10-50 percentdiscounts on books and stationery on the last three days.

The Can Tho Book Fair is thesecond largest in southern Vietnam after the HCM City Book Fair.

The annual fair provides localpublishers with opportunities to network with and learn from larger publishersfrom around the country.

To avoid clashing with the establishedHCM City Book Fair, the Can Tho fair is only held on odd years.-VNA
