Int’l agricultural, environmental technology fair set for Can Tho

The organisers aim to strengthen links between suppliers of modern agricultural inputs and machinery and farmers, thereby helping producers access technologies in crop cultivation, livestock farming and aquaculture, adopt sustainable production processes and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Can Tho – Ca Mau travel time halves from December 19

Stretching more than 110 km with a total investment of over 27.5 trillion VND (1.04 billion USD), the project not only resolves long-standing traffic bottlenecks in the Mekong Delta, but also opens up new development opportunities for the entire region - especially Ca Mau, the last locality in the country to be directly connected to the eastern North–South expressway axis.

NA Vice Chairman pays Christmas visit to Can Tho Diocese

A National Assembly delegation led by Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong on December 17 paid a visit and extended Christmas greetings at the bishop’s office of the Can Tho Diocese, which currently covers the Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city and Ca Mau province, with a total of 142 parishes of various sizes.

World Bank delegation surveys Can Tho urban resilience project

The project is jointly financed by the WB with up to 250 million USD and a 10-million-USD non-refundable grant from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), along with counterpart funding from the Vietnamese Government. Its goal is to build a climate-resilient and sustainable city that can drive socio-economic growth across the Mekong Delta, mitigate flood vulnerability in central Can Tho, and improve inter- and intra-regional transport connectivity.

Top legislator meets with Can Tho’s voters ahead of 15th NA’s 10th session

The top legislator requested the city to effectively and drastically implement resolutions of the Politburo and the NA on Can Tho’s development through 2030, with a vision to 2040, and on piloting special mechanisms and policies for the city; continue to remove obstacles for investors and businesses; address pending projects; accelerate public investment disbursement; increase investment for education, science, and health care.

Mekong Delta emerging as plastic waste “hotspot”, experts warn

Citing a 2022 World Bank survey, Nguyen Van Khoi, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said that the Mekong Delta faces a serious challenge from single-use plastics.
